Lake Greenwood is one of South Carolina's most popular lakes. It is located between the city of Greenwood and Sumpter National Forest in the midlands portion of South Carolina. The lake is owned by Greenwood County and, as of 2015, the powerhouse and dam are managed by the Santee Cooper electric co-operative.

There is very little undeveloped land around Lake Greenwood, approximately 75% of the shoreline is privately-owned. There is much variety in age and value of the homes around the lake. With it being one of the most affordable lakes in South Carolina, Lake Greenwood is a wonderful area to look for your lake house!

Although Lake Greenwood lies on the three counties of Laurens, Greenwood, and Newberry, the lake is owned by Greenwood county. Therefore, the Greenwood County Lake Mgmt Dept manages the entire lake.

Lake Greenwood has an excellent bass and crappie fishery. It also offers a good population of striped bass, and the perfect place to catch them is below the dam. Duke Energy has provided several boat ramps below the dam on both sides of the river and paved parking areas. Please see our fishing page for additional information.
